Health officials: Third Volusia coronavirus case reported, 14 other cases across Florida

SANIKA: WE JUST HEARD FROM SEMINOLE COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGER ALAN HAYS. HERE’S WHAT WE KNOW. THE COUNTY HAS TESTED MORE THAN A DOZEN PEOPLE FOR THE CORONAVIRUS. TO DATE, 14 OF THOSE TESTS CAME BACK NEGATIVE. THIS, THE 15TH, IS THE FIRST TEST THAT CAME BACK POSITIVE. THE PATIENT IS A 68-YEAR-OLD MAN FROM SEMINOLE COUNTY AND WAS TESTED BY A PRIVATE LAB IN CONJUNCTION WITH ADVENTHEALTH ALTAMONTE SPRINGS EARLIER THIS WEEK. THOSE POSITIVE RESULTS HAVE NOW BEEN SENT TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH WHO WILL CONFIRM THOSE RESULTS. RIGHT NOW THIS CASE IS CONSIDERED PRESUMPTIVE POSITIVE. THIS IS A TRAVEL-RELATED CASE. WE’RE TOLD HE WENT TO EGYPT IN FEBRUARY AND WENT ON A NILE RIVER CRUISE TOUR. THAT CRUISE TOUR HAS BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH MANY POSITIVE CASES HERE IN THE COUNTRY, INCLUDING MORE THAN A THIRD OF FLORIDA CASES. WE’RE TOLD THE PATIENT WAS RELEASED FROM ADVENTHEALTH AND IS NOW SELF-QUARANTINING. >> THE INDIVIDUAL IS SELF-ISOLATING AT HOME AND DOING RELATIVELY DOING WELL RIGHT NOW BASED ON OUR COMMUNICATION WITH HIM. WE ARE PROVIDING SUPPORT SERVICES, WRAPAROUND SERVICES TO MAKE SURE HE’S OK, THAT HE HAS ALL THE SUPPLIES THAT HE NEEDS TO SELF-ISOLATE AT HOME AND BE WELL. SANIKA: PARIS TELLS US THEY WILL BE ACTIVATING A HOTLINE TOMORROW WHICH WILL BE STAFFED MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 8:00 A.M. TO 5:00 P.M. THAT NUMBER WILL BE SHARED TOMORROW. IN THE MEANTIME, EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT IN THE COUNTY SAYS THEY ARE ENHANCING CLEANING AT LIKE PARKS AND LIBRARIES

Health officials: Third Volusia coronavirus case reported, 14 other cases across Florida

The Florida Department of Health has announced 15 new positive coronavirus cases, including one in Volusia County.Officials said a 70-year-old man in Volusia County has tested positive for COVID-19. Health officials said the case is travel-related and is associated with a Nile River Cruise/Tour in Egypt. He is isolated and will remain isolated until cleared by public health officials. He is isolated and will remain isolated until cleared by public health officials. This case is associated with travel in Europe. A 50-year-old man from New York who is currently in Sarasota County has tested positive for COVID-19. He is isolated and will remain isolated until cleared by public health officials. She is isolated and will remain isolated until cleared by public health officials. Officials said this is a travel case associated with Europe. A 77-year-old man in Lee County has tested positive for COVID-19. He is isolated and will remain isolated until cleared by public health officials. Officials are unsure if this is a travel-related case and are investigating.The update from the Florida Department of Health brings the total number of residents who have tested positive to the coronavirus to 39 with six non-Florida resident cases.

The Florida Department of Health has announced 15 new positive coronavirus cases, including one in Volusia County.

Officials said a 70-year-old man in Volusia County has tested positive for COVID-19. Health officials said the case is travel-related and is associated with a Nile River Cruise/Tour in Egypt.

The 70-year-old man is the third case reported out of Volusia County, and the fourth for Central Florida.
