A couple delivered their baby early Thursday in the freezing cold, far from a hospital.”I woke him up and said, ‘Hey, I think I’m in labor. We should probably go,'” Liz Porterfield said.It didn’t take long for the couple to realize they weren’t going to make it to the hospital.”She says, ‘Pull over. ‘I’m, like, ‘No way. We’re going to get there,'” Brock Porterfield said.”I said, ‘No. Pull over. You need to pull over right now and call 911,'” Liz Porterfield said.It was 2 a.m. It was freezing cold, it was dark and snow was blowing.”911 asked what’s going on? Asked if baby’s coming out. I said, ‘No.’ And she said, ‘Yeah,'” Brock Porterfield said.He said that is when he realized the delivery was going to be up to him.”I was scared. I was nervous because nobody was there,” Brock Porterfield said.”So I just stood on the running board and basically screamed,” Liz Porterfield said.Baby Ella was supposed to be a Valentine’s baby.”I’m glad she’s healthy,” Brock Porterfield said.Super dad did one more amazing thing. He took off his jacket, gave it to wife to stay warm and then he took off his shirt and undershirt and wrapped them around the baby to stay warm, leaving him shirtless in the freezing cold, waiting for the EMTs.Emergency crews gave him a shirt as a reward.”That is hero-type stuff. I don’t know if I could have stayed that calm,” Liz Porterfield said.”It was scary. I was scared,” Brock Porterfield said.Liz Porterfield delivered in the truck without any medication. Both she and Ella Rose are doing fine.
