Sheriff: No shooting at Heritage Middle School in Deltona

A brief lockdown at Heritage Middle School in Deltona sparked rumors of a school shooting, but the Volusia County Sheriff took to Twitter to say that was not the case. Officials with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Friday morning that they were clearing the school after a suspicious call.Officials said nobody was hurt. “There was no shooting, no one shot or injured. We’re taking some final precautionary measures as we clear campus, but everything should be back open shortly. I’m here on scene and I know parents are concerned as rumors fly. The lockdown had been lifted by 1 p.m.

The campus has been cleared, with no weapons found, and no one injured in any way. There was no shooting. The Code Red has not been lifted at this time as deputies are continuing to investigate the origin of the apparent false report.
