Historic building collapses after semitrailer crash, authorities say

A historic hotel was severely damaged after a semitrailer crashed into it early Sunday morning. Around 3:15 a.m., Florida Highway Patrol and Osceola County Fire Rescue were called to U.S. 441 and State Road 60 after a semitrailer that was carrying orange juice crashed into The Desert Inn Bar and Restaurant. The Desert Inn is a historic building. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1994. According to Osceola Fire Rescue, the business has been shut down for a while. The driver of the semitrailer told authorities that the area was dark and did not know he left the road.No one was inside of the building during the crash. The driver suffered minor injuries. Charges are pending.

A historic hotel was severely damaged after a semitrailer crashed into it early Sunday morning.
