Police investigating possibility reported kidnapping in the Bronx was staged, reports say

The kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl in The Bronx on Monday night was staged, according to multiple reports. The teenager, Karol Sanchez, knew at least one of the people involved in the kidnapping, CNN reported.The New York Times reports Sanchez had a difficult relationship with her mother, who had been contemplating moving back to their native Honduras. Karol, however, wanted to remain in the United States, which could have motivated her alleged desire to stage the kidnapping. At this time it is unclear who, if anyone, will be charged in the case.Sanchez, 16, was walking with her mother along Eagle Avenue near East 156th Street in New York at about 11:20 p.m. Monday when they were approached by a beige four-door sedan, the NYPD said. The car stopped and two men exited and grabbed the teenager, police said. They dragged her inside the vehicle and pushed her mother to the ground, NYPD said.Two other men were in the vehicle.
