Multiple students arrested after fights prompt lockdown at high school in Port Orange

Volusia County deputies and Port Orange police responded to Atlantic High School in Port Orange on Thursday afternoon. Officials said the law enforcement response came after multiple fights broke out in the school’s courtyard. Police said 10 juveniles were taken into custody, along with one adult who is not affiliated with the school and should not have been on campus. Officials said no guns or knives were involved, but the adult involved may have had brass knuckles. No major injuries were reported, but police said at least one person was transported to a hospital with chest pain. Police said that any injuries to students in the fights were minor.
