Officials say 9-year-old Nevaeh Nunez, her 7-year-old sister, Katalaya Nunez, and 71-year-old Emilio Nunez died after they were hit by a vehicle driven by 48-year-old Stephen Lynn, of Ocala.Emilio Nunez had just picked his granddaughters up from Belleview-Santos Elementary School when the crash happened Thursday afternoon.The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash happened at the intersection of County Highway 484 and County Road 467. They say Lynn was traveling east on County Highway 484 when he ran a traffic light and hit the Nunezes’ car as they were traveling on County Road 467.Lynn was arrested at the scene and charged with three counts of DUI manslaughter, DUI property damage and DUI.He is currently in the Marion County Jail. Jail officials said his initial appearance was scheduled for Friday morning, but it will continue Saturday and his bond information will be updated at that time.On Friday, Kimberly White, principal of Belleview-Santos Elementary, spoke about the girls.”They were a joy. Both of the girls had smiles that would light up a room, and their classmates described them as caring and loving, and I heard on several occasions the word ‘compassionate,'” White said.”There were a lot of tears today because they had not a negative thing being said about them.
