COCOA BEACH, Fla. —

People who live in Volusia and Brevard counties are gearing up for another round of rain and wind this weekend as the tropical depression passes by.

When Hurricane Dorian was making its way toward Cocoa Beach a few weeks ago, businesses were all boarded up.

That is not the case with this weekend’s tropical depression off the coast, as people say they think its biggest impact will be on businesses.

Less than two weeks after Hurricane Dorian practically shut down everything on Florida’s central coast over Labor Day weekend, another storm is scheduled to pass nearby.

While this storm isn’t expected to be severe, local business owners say they’re nervous it could still cause people to stay home.

“Let us have a weekend where we can be open and have people come in and enjoy the weekend, but it seems as if everything is timed so that we are all closed down and at home during the weekend,” business owner Emerald Eberhart said.

“It is Florida, so you’ve got to be heads up for anything, you know?” Cocoa Beach resident Jeremy Botill
