Government to seek death penalty for Pittsburgh Tree of Life Synagogue gunman

Prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty for Robert Bowers, who’s charged with killing 11 people at the Tree of Life synagogue in Squirrel Hill, a Pittsburgh neighborhood, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a court filing Monday.The counts are obstruction of free exercise of religious beliefs resulting in death, and use and discharge of a firearm to commit murder during and in relation to a crime of violence and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.This is a breaking news story.
