[INAUDIBLE] THE IDEA IS THE ARTWORK WILL BE DONE OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS AS CONSTRUCTION FINISHES. >> AMID THE GRAY CONCRETE SPRAWLING DOWN THE 21-MILE STRETCH OF THE I-4 ULTIMATE PROJECT, SOME MAY SEE AN OPPORTUNITY, AN OPEN CANVAS EVEN. >> WE’RE LOOKING INTO SOME MURALS, SOME SCULPTURES. >> THE HISTORIC TOWN OF EATONVILLE IS ONE OF SIX MUNICIPALITIES WHO WILL GET PART OF A FUND TO CREATE ART ALONG THE INTERSTATE IT IS PART OF A $1.5 MILLION ENDOWMENT. EATON’S BILL PIECE IS $225,000 AND AND TOWN PLANNER JAMES BENDERSON TELLS US, SOME OF IT WILL GO TOWARD A LONG-AWAITED PROJECT PUTTING THE TOWN’S NAME BACK ON ITS WATER TOWER, A HISTORIC ICON HERE. >> JUST TO HAVE THE NAME BACK ON TOP OF THAT, AND FOR PEOPLE PASSING BY ON I-4, THEY CAN SE AND SAY, LOOK TO, THERE IS EATONVILLE AND THEN THEY’LL MAKE A U-TURN AND CHECK US OUT. >> OTHER PROJECTS ARE BEING PLANNED TO, ALL IN EYE-SHOT OF THE INTERSTATE, TO HELP WELCOME PEOPLE TO TOWN AND IMMERSE THEM IN ITS CHARACTER. >> WE ARE A CULTURAL DESTINATIONA AND A TOURISM MARKET, SO PEOPLE, WHEN THEY VISIT THEY WANT TO SEE SOMETHING NEW AND SOEMTHING DIFFERENT SO THEY CAN TAKE A SELFIE OR A PHOTO WITH THEIR FAMILIES. >> WE ARE A CULTURAL DESTINATIONA AND A TOURISM MARKET, SO PEOPLE, WHEN THEY VISIT THEY WANT TO SEE SOMETHING NEW AND SOEMTHING DIFFERENT SO THEY CAN TAKE A SELFIE OR A PHOTO WITH THEIR FAMILIES. PROJECT DIRECTOR WILLIAM MCGUINNESS SAYS THE ART ENDOWMENT WAS PART OF SGL CONSTRUCTORS’ PROPOSAL WHEN I-4 ULTIMATE WAS JUST IN THE PLANNING STAGES, SO IT WAS BUDGETED LONG BEFORE ANY CONSTRUCTION BEGAN, AND THE PROJECT OVERALL HAS REACHED A POINT TO PUT THIS PIECE OF IT IN MOTION. >> IT’S NOW SAFER, CLEANER, STRAIGHTER, ACCIDENT RATES A GOING DOWN AND AS THE PROJECT STARTS TO TAKE SHAPE, LOCAL COMMUNITIES CAN UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WANT TO CONNECT IT AND PERSONALIZE IT FOR EACH OF THEIR AREAS. >> THEY WILL EACH HAVE A PIECE OF DIFFERENT ENDOWMENTS. $1.5 million to be spent on art projects along Interstate 4

Six Central Florida municipalities along Interstate 4 are set to split more than a million dollars which will be spent on art projects to beautify the highway. Related video above: I-4 Ultimate construction has passed the halfway point The I-4 Ultimate Project Art Endowment Committee, consisting of representatives of I-4 Mobility Partners, FDOT and SGL Constructors, will fund $1.5 million for public art installations they claim will provide a more scenic and cultural experience for drivers. The City of Orlando, Orange County, the Town of Eatonville, Winter Park, Maitland, and Altamonte Springs will each receive a portion of the money. Orlando will receive the most, with $400,000. Maitland is set to get $200,000 and Winter Park will receive $150,000. Final artistic creations should be completed and in place by February 2021, a news release said.
