At least 14 parrots found malnourished, balding living in abandoned house

Police and animal welfare officials rescued 14 malnourished parrots from an Oklahoma City home. Oklahoma City police and animal welfare officers, along with officials from the health and fire departments, responded to the home on June 26 near Northwest 23rd Street and North Council Road. Neighbors called police about the birds’ loud chirping and the bad smell coming from the home. According to animal welfare officials, 14 malnourished parrots were found at the home. Some of them were nearly bald and some of them had broken wings or shoulders. Officials said the homeowner does not live at the house but keeps the birds there. The homeowner has not been taken into custody. Animal welfare officials said they plan on pressing charges for animal cruelty.
