A severe thunderstorm early Tuesday dumped prolific amounts of hail in portions of Nebraska and Iowa.The first reports of hail came from near 198th and Harrison in Omaha, Nebraska.Viewers quickly started reporting piles of hail stretching to Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs — about 25 miles to the east of the first reports.A driver had to be rescued with a tow truck from hail more than 1-foot deep.Other images showed hail that damaged siding in the area, filled yards and stripped the leaves off trees and plants.Drivers told the Omaha World-Herald that they saw several snowplows out removing the hail from streets.“It brought back a scary sight of, ‘Oh my God, winter,’’’ one commuter told the newspaper.
